GTA 4 advertising only for the XBOX 360.

Advertising for the juggernaut game that is GTA 4 is starting to flood out. The first ad's out in the U.K look as if the game will only be advertising for the 360. Its likely this could be part of Microsofts DLC deal?

The ad also mentions the DLC will be arriving "exclusively" on the 360 in Autmun 2008. Single system advertising can affect sales in a huge way, this is a pretty devastating blow against SONY( cheap shot at Chris Stead ) but we will have to wait and see the end results.

I see that this is UK advertising, and from what i've seen in the past, when multiplatform games are marketed towards the 360 side, they sell alot more. Devil May Cry 4, which was a sony exclusive last generation sold 2 to 1 on the xbox in europe.

Since we've been hearing rumblings about preorders being close to 3 to 1 on the 360, the fanboys are out in full force spouting bullshit on forums across the net.

P.S. as an afterthought, seems like you have good taste in games Pitt. Good to see awesome stuff like Strider, as well as appreciation for the new greats, such as Gears of War.

Shadowrun is also a plus.

I know this sounds way off topic, but is there any way I can contact you?

Are you going to pick up GTA4 on release day Pitt? Also, i'd like to know if the DLC expansions have anything to do with your purchase in the event of you having both consoles.

Defiantly. The DLC is one of the reasons the other is I'm not entirely sure I believe The PS3 version is not a port( we know how ports usually do on the PS3 ) TMU they only let ign preview the PS3 version, and IGN had their SONY fanboy do it. Frankly though I don't trust ign since their Fable preview that and they are probably easily bought.

Ign is full of shit. Ever seen that asshole Goldstein review a game?

"The camera sucks, the gameplay sucks, the item system is annoying, the voice acting is cheesy, you should never ever play this game. But don't get me wrong! It's still a good game and you should spend 60 dollars on it! I mean, all those glaring issues don't matter!"

That's pretty much his reviews. Annoying as shit. Back when I used IGN to decide on my game purchases, I missed out on alot of amazing games on the ps2. Nitpicking for bullshit that doesen't change the experience of the game. It's crap.

Btw, the PS3 version is a port. Rockstar confirmed having problems porting it over, which was one of the reasons for delay. The other was multiplayer.

Say, Pitt, wanna play some GTA4 multiplayer one of these days?

the ps3 version is NOT a port its been made from the ground up from a completely in house game engine. The reason for the delay was the extra time it took to learn and efficiently code on the cell processor it had nothing to do with "porting" it. It had to do with getting both systems to a similar level of performance. Which if early reviews have any indication payed off as both are pretty much exactly the same now.

Could've sworn it was said to be a port. Probably wrong about that.

However I DO know that the reason for the delay was not to make sure 'both' platforms were up to snuff. In a long interview about GTA4, one of the devs specifically noted they had problems with the ps3's hardware.

That and the multiplayer add in.

exactly they had trouble understanding the cell architecture and had to work the bugs out to get it up to par with the 360 version so in essence the ps3 version was partly to blame for the delay as they had to play catchup on the 360 version in terms of completion and performance.(kinda sounds strange but i mean the ps3 version was behind schedule the 360 version was nearing completion i don't mean 360 was behind) the other part was as you said the multiplayer addition.
