Saints row, SOLO!

Another SR/GTA related article emerges and only confirms that retards are still working in the gaming media.

http://kotaku.com/5045039/saints-row-2-shakes-its-gta-roots

I really find the article disrespectful. The industry is always comparing SR to GTA like a bunch of clueless retards. They turn it into a competition like moronic fanboy dipshits. "Saints Row 2 Shakes Its GTA Roots"......WTF. Why are there no articles on halo and every other goddamn FPS shaking their doom and quake roots. Why no articles on GTA shaking its driver, syndicate wars, shadowrun, etc, etc, etc roots? Because its unprofessional and fucking stupid to constantly compare. It would be like movie critics comparing EVERY horror movie to the very first big successful horror movie. No film critic would risk looking like a fool in that regard. Yet gaming journalist etc, have no problems looking foolish, with lack of any coherent oversight from their employers who can blame them? I can! Why is it that only GTA must garner god like status amongst morons who seem to think GTA should be the only game in its genre or the only game in history to the extreme? Maybe because the majority of the gaming media remember GTA 3 as the summer after their pubic hair sprouted forth.

For some reason they only deem shitty articles like this appropriate for any game that falls into the same genre that GTA "kickstarted". You'll never read any reviews or articles comparing HALO to Wolfenstien, doom or quake nor will you see any comparing god of war to the countless games it borrowed from. reviewers and journalist who CONSTANTLY compare SR 1 or 2 to GTA only reassure me that their are complete goddamn idiots working in the gaming media industry and they are no better then the children who bicker over these games on message boards.

Open memo to gaming media, "Stop looking like a bunch of unprofessional retarded monkeys fucking a football"!

Now I enjoy your blog(and hate the lack of updates) I think you're wrong here. While I hate the constant belittling of Saints Row vis a vis GTA(I enjoyed Saints Row way more than GTA4) I think it's all fair game.

While all FPS' keep inspiring each other, Saint's Row was a complete clone of GTA San Andreas. Same gangster mood and gameplay mechanics(fellow criminals following you around).

And it is Saints Row 2 that made this commercial poking fun of the lack of fun in GTA4 and referring to the bowling and the telephone calls.

So in the end Saints Row might have a better gameplay(running and gunnin in GTA4 was litteraly shit) it still far from what GTA really is, an acid commentary of american culture while Saints Row is just standing around trying to emulate prior games that sold immensly.

The amount of effort that is put into GTA4 for the radios, the voicing of random passerby, the quality of the writing the wits etc.. is impressive, commandable and appreciated. Saints Row in the end is just a little guilty pleasure, not trying anything new.

I don't think SR 1 was a clone of GTA SA, I know its the norm to think this. The whole street gang theme in SA wasn't fleshed out and ultimately was not the focal point. SR took the street gang theme and evolved it, not only that but SR was in development for the original xbox 2 years I believe before SA, and was originally titled "bling" ROCKSTAR just got to the plate first. Volition even changed the saints colors after seeing ROCKSTARS choice for grove street.

You can't call a game a clone if it was materialized before the other game.

P.S, sorry 4 lack of updates will get on the ball again shortly:)

Well you can't really say Saints Row had the idea first without anything but a developpment date to back it up. I mean they could have very well taken notice of GTA SA and delayed the game.

Look at Resident Evil 4, they stopped what they were doing and started new, same with Splinter Cell. Truth is, all gta-likes(or the normalized sandbox term now) were crap before Saints Row.

All of them ! Saints Row did its own thing. It was inspired by GTA for the general mood but its own thing and theres nothing wrong with that. Because it was fun. So yeah I think its pretty unfair to cry foul especially with the commercial making fun of GTA but its all in good fun, they know theyre not gonna make the same figures but I dont think Rockstar sees Saints Row as a rival or a clone in a bad way.

If anything its the best compliment there is. And to be fair Saints Row isnt exactly like GTA SA, the gameplay is better than SA and GTA4(especially the gun and run part).
